Ambrosian Candle Co.

Ambrosian Candle Company is a Catholic family's beeswax business. The family kept bees and sold honey for about a decade, and in 2022 they turned the beeswax they had stockpiled into a candle company. Its candles are made entirely of beeswax for home prayer and the liturgical year, and the family says it began after discovering the role beeswax candles play in the Mass. A father and son tend the colonies, which are kept across the St. Lawrence River Valley of northern New York. They render the wax themselves and pour each candle in a mold or dip it on a carousel with cotton wicks, one at a time.
